Designer's Notes

Firstly let me just begin by saying that Milieu Zero is on the whole a very good adventure setting, and has some dynamic possibilities for the creation of some excellent scenarios…

However the original T4 book entitled 'Starships' (in my opinion) had to be one of the worst products ever created. It is not good enough to fill pages with unimaginative deck-plans, boring stats and dreadful explanations of vessels, their abilities and other important adventure elements that help the game come alive.

In all the general quality of Imperium Games products was (again in my opinion) so low that I simply couldn’t bring myself to use them.

However with the advent of T20 all of that changed, the T20 rules as presented in 'The Traveller's Handbook' are well thought out, atmospheric and professionally presented and edited and the ideal compliment to source materials such as Milieu Zero which tends to be rules light in any case. As a result of this development I now only use T20 rules with any existing traveller product and have turned my attention to the very birth of the Imperium, having had tremendous fun with it.

I decided not so long ago, that I would convert all of the stats from the T4 Starships book into their T20 equivalent, but also being keen on quality I decided that I would also provide a detailed write up of each design, in order to explain the design philosophy, or in some cases the craft's appearance in a way that was (I hope) imaginative and stimulating to the referee and player alike who might want to use these designs in their own campaigns and in effect create the book that I would have liked Starships to be. If I had a CAD planner I would also have created detailed deck-plans much like the ones that DGP used to produce for MegaTraveller (Those of you that own 'The Flaming Eye' will know what I mean) as quality deck-plans also stimulate the imagination and bring the vessels alive in the minds of both players and the referee.

In the spirit of this drive for quality I would like anyone and everyone to check the designs and stats listed in the Vessel descriptions and email me the details of any errors I might have made at-

mark@bridgeman3350.freeserve.co.uk

In which case I will be happy for your input and change the designs accordingly, (at this time of going to print I am happy of course, that all the designs are as they should be, buy hey I'm only human and one or two mistakes might have slipped through the net as most of this work has been completed very late at night after a full day's work, when my wife is already in bed thus giving me the thinking time required to convert the stats.

As for the Open Game Licence bit, please freely distribute these designs and stats to anyone you'd like, I don’t want any money, this has been a labour of love in many ways, though please give credit to the original T4 ship designers (listed in the descriptions) and myself for having converted these designs to the T20 format.

As projected technology such as Heplar, Contragrav, Fusion+ and Fusion rockets are an integral part of the feel of Milieu Zero, an expansion pack of rules to simulate these are also included, again as in all cases, accept and use what you like and simply disregard the rest if you don’t like them.

The projected technology rules also includes explanations of how the technology works and have extensive explanations with regards to reverse engineering of future technologies by lower tech societies/industrial bases all found in file 000, Heplar & Fusion+

As above, use them if you like them, if not… well I won't be offended….

May your universe continue to expand in richness and vision.
