| Imperial Yacht Mark Bridgeman The Yacht is a noble's plaything, used to entertain friends and undertake political or commercial missions. There are three ship's vehicles: an air/raft, a 30-ton ship's boat and an ATV. The ship's boat can be configured to ferry the ATV from orbit to surface and vice versa. The Yacht is only Semi Streamlined, and hence cannot land on the surface of worlds with an atmosphere greater than 1, though it can skim for fuel, hence the ship's boat is normally used for interface operations such as delivering the ATV to the surface (ideal on worlds where grav vehicles are unsuitable). Interior accommodations are luxurious; the lower deck also contains a forward observation window with a recessed passenger lounge at the front of the ship so that passengers aboard may enjoy and be entertained by any naturally occurring spectacles such as unusual gas giants, nebulae, or even a particularly dense star field or view of the world in orbit etc. Despite the minimal performance of this craft (jump 1 and 1G acceleration) this design is quite tough and survivable due to the increased armour that was deemed an essential part of the design, as after all Imperial Nobles are all important people, sometimes more important than the heads of states of member worlds, or even clusters of worlds. Unsurprisingly this vessel is often purchased not just by the nobility but also by other wealthy individuals such as retired merchants, or successful businessmen.
