| Kaaar Gemar B9E78CC-A Mark Bridgeman Kaaar Gemar a large heavy gravity world with an ellipsoid atmosphere. It has a world straddling chemical ocean, no native life and unpredictable weather patterns. Chemical reactions powered in the sea by geological actions (volcanoes, faults etc) combined with lighting strikes and turbulent atmospheric conditions produce a low level of free oxygen by-products making the air barely breathable in the colder latitudes though all visitors should consider the atmosphere tainted at the least. Most inhabitants of Kaar Gemar ensire that they are well covered up exposing no skin in addition to carrying their own oxygen supply (just in case), where the air is breathable most citizens and visitors use filter mask or a combination, filter/compressor/respirator when out and about in the few safe regions of this strange world. "Acid rain and lethal dust storms are considered the norm on this world, a world that we in the Imperium would simply have bypassed, as after all there's better ones available." IISS Survey Specialist Louis Briggs A large percentage of the empire's population lives here (some seven hundred million sophonts) in a single arcology governed by a Charismatic Oligarchy that maintains the favour and popularity of the female population by providing the highest standard of living in the empire next to that enjoyed by the nobles on Ande. Large scale chemical harvesting and both land and undersea mining represent the mainstream industries of Kaaar Gemar in addition to its recently upgraded orbital shipyard capable of making spacecraft (though crucially not starships) up to 1000 tons displacement. The law level can typically be read as 10 (imperial equivalent) making weapon possession prohibited for all citizens though males are treated much more harshly and can routinely have their privacy abused if suspected of any wrong doing (law level 12). Kaaar Gemar is the production and refining centre of the Rebin Empire for petrochemicals, and minerals and justifies this high law level as a prudent response to the harsh environmental conditions this world offers, in order to protect the citizenry from accidental negligence and the occasional malice of malcontents. |
