The Fleet control arm

The Active Wing

The active wing is a title that simply refers to the elements of the fleet control arm (simply referred to as 'fleet' that conducts anti-piracy operations and patrols within member systems in addition to operations beyond the Rebin borders such as deep penetration strikes and pirate hunting missions in the 'lawless' territories that surround the Empire. The Active Wing is also responsible for managing conflict with hostile powers in the region that may choose to threaten Rebin Interests and fulfils all of the duties of a typical navy.

Fleet Intelligence

Survey and exploration is also considered to be a realm of responsibility for the Active Wing under the auspices of the Fleet Intelligence branch that in addition to reconnaissance and data gathering typically sponsor long duration exploration missions towards the Solomani Rim and the mythical and now lost home world of the Solomani. Many far flung though independent worlds around the empire contain Rebin Fleet Intelligence outposts used to support exploration and also to serve as early warning listening posts and intelligence gathering/collating posts, though more importantly (and primarily) as 'trip wire stations' set up to warn the empire of any encroaching threats. Detached duty is not available.

The Passive Wing

The passive wing is anything but, and represents indigenous local defence forces and rescue craft, responsible for planetary defences and maintaining order and peace within a given star system. The passive wing has been tactically developed to exist within the command chain and logistical support of the Active Wing so that should a Rebin star system ever be invaded both passive and active fleet elements can easily combine to drive off the invaders.

The Planetary Control Arm

The Rebin Army is technically called the 'Planetary Control & Defence Arm ' or 'P.C.D.A.' or informally the 'P.C.A.' or 'Planetary Control Arm' and consists of air, close orbit and ground forces (both dry and wet).

Dry operatives

Dry operatives consist of infantry, and mobile artillery, cavalry combined with grav support etc, fulfilling all of the roles of a traditional (Solomani) Army. In addition to this both Dry and Wet operatives function as military police, enforcing local laws and protecting/overseeing the local population. Criminal proceedings tend to be swift and offenders dealt with harshly (decided upon by a panel of low ranking military officers all female and technically judge and jury) who after hearing arguments for and against the suspect in addition to any mitigating circumstances as promoted by representatives of the suspects or victims, along with any testimony from witnesses or electronic sources confer and pronounce judgement along with details of any sentence.

"Personal Log entry: Cynthia Gallicise: James has just been arrested, apparently he refused to lower his gaze when some noble procession went passed. He is now in custody and his trial his being held next week. Somebody has got to represent him to the tribunal and it looks like it's going to be me… Ignorance is no excuse they tell me, perhaps I can plead that he is mentally ill, though must likely that will result in him being sent to a hospital for corrective therapy. Perhaps if he pleads guilty it will lessen the punishment. I'd better start researching."

Wet Operatives

Wet operatives man submersibles (both large and small) in addition to amphibious units and traditional ocean going vessels ranging from small gunboat to gigantic floating carriers that support Air and Dry Operatives. Several Rebin worlds have underwater cities that whilst deep under the ocean also need to be protected from hostile threats or the actions of freedom fighters and terrorists, hence wet (submersible and surface) patrols are common on Rebin worlds and extremely common on the Rebin Capitol of Ande.

Air Operatives

Air operatives overlap slightly with the Passive wing of the Fleet Control Arm and are responsible with supplying air support for ground units and atmospheric and near orbit defence (out to the planetary gravity well). Hence air operatives fly anything from slow troop transports to high-speed grav powered interceptors or streamlined short duration patrol fighters and frequently escort merchant vessels to or from jump point. Air operatives whilst under the command of the planetary control Arm are expected to co-operate with both the Fleet Control Arm's Passive and Active Wings and submit to their authority and orders in the event of hostilities with their commander's permission of course.

The Special Shipboard Service

And outgrowth of the Planetary Control Arm though now considered an independent force in its own right. Members of this service fulfil all the roles of Ship's troops or marines throughout the Empire on all fleet vessels that necessitate troops. Standards of training and a reputation serve to make this the most prestigious of military services for males and females alike.
