Political Forces of the Rebin Empire

Enrique Independence Party

The E.I.P. are an illegal organisation dedicated to full and sovereign independence for Enrique, the highest population world in the Empire and as a consequence the most important. Unlike other organisations they have not yet resorted to terrorism although they have declared war on the Empire and are rumoured to be building forces at a secret location within the Enrique system.

The Expansionist Lobby

The Expansionist Lobby is a legal organisation that supports the Empress's vision of a greatly expanded empire. The lobby came about in response to concerns of population pressure from the nobility of worlds such as Enrique and Ergo.

Equality Now

Equality Now is an illegal terrorist organisation operating from hidden locations within Rebin space, demanding equal access to education and training for men and a stronger voice for males in the female dominated society of the Rebin empire. Originally the organisation began as a trio of brave males (Simon Hilger, Arthon Myler, Brade Hamon) that peacefully protested against the government on Ergo. The Rebin authorities reacted by locking them up and throwing away the key (it is rumoured that they are now slaves on Uurki Guurk). Which resulted in mass rioting and the formation of a hard core of sympathetic activists who have vowed to attack and destroy government institutions until the Hilger, Myler and Hamon trio are released. They have in recent years claimed responsibility for several attacks conducted on Ergo and Enrique and an attempted poisoning of the atmosphere on Ande. The Rebin government's response has been harsh to say the least resulting in tightening of security procedures and a general increase in law levels across the empire. It is suspected that Equality Now operates from a hidden base beyond Rebin space.

The Democratic Imperative

The Democratic Imperative is an illegal organisation (presumably of females) that uses peaceful means to lobby the government to reduce law levels across the Empire and begin the transition from a feudal government structure to a democratic one. Needless to say the empress does not approve and has charged each ruling Duchess to root out and find the members of the imperative wherever they are, using whatever means they have including military action and harsh policing. This has proven to be difficult as the Imperative conceal their identities and tend to act through an untraceable morass of computer networks to highjack local news broadcasts and get their message across.

The Freeworld's Union

The freeworld's union consists of the four worlds of Khar, Emsingale, Nish and Lish; Khar has an Excellent Shipyard capable of building small vessels up to tl-11 (10,000 tons displacement max), whilst Emsingale has a gigantic population and an inhospitable environment. The Rebin Empire is currently mounting a gigantic assault against the Union as it effectively blocks access to the Shiiin Cluster, the worlds of which are high on the Rebin wish list of desirable conquests, that include the independent world of Khinuum (an agricultural world with a firm technological base and an orbital shipyard, ruled by a feudal technocracy). The government of Khinuum have been long time trading partners of the Freeworld's Union and in order to assist their allies are now producing small starships (up to 1,000 tons displacement) in their yards to supplement Union military forces. The technological edge of the Rebin Empire combined with its tremendous industrial output and quality of shipyards favours them in this conflict, although the Union whilst considered to be a smaller lower tech power is no pushover.

Khinuum 0318 A895555-B Ag Ni 204 Na F0VI
Kaar 0414 A100377-C Lo Pop Va 701 Fr M2V M7D
Emsingale 0415 B8B4AAA-A Hi Pop Fl 321 Fr F9D
Nish 0416 C100000-A Va Ba 013 Fr G3V
Lish 0417 C541000-5 Po Ba 000 Fr G7V

The twin systems of Nish and Lish are claimed by the Freeworld's Union, simply because they serve as a convenient jump 1 route to the worlds of the Shiiin wisp/cluster to rimward and contain minimal outposts of the Union that serve as repair and maintenance facilities for union ships and places where they can get fuel, particularly the Lish system which is completely devoid of gas-giants etc, hence the use of a good sized ground facility on Lish. Both systems have no permanent inhabitants though the Union government on Emsingale are currently considering colonising the twin worlds as a way of alleviating the tremendous population pressures found on Emsingale. Like the Rebin world of Enrique there is a vast amount of insystem trade and transport between various bodies of the Emsingale system.

"The incorporation of the Rebin worlds into the Imperium might be assisted if we could somehow lend Imperial support to the Freeworld's union and support them in this conflict with Rebin forces."
