Empress Class Command Carrier Mark Bridgeman This vessel like its Freeworlds Union equivalent is a carrier, not a battleship and intended to serve as a multi purpose command carrier, primarily used for flag showing and tactical co-ordination of allied forces. Dedicated strike cruisers and battleships built at the same level of scale are relatively common within the Rebin Empire though are rarely deployed beyond the empire's borders as to date the Empire has been a peaceful polity that maintained naval forces purely for defence of the realm and the support of allied independent states The Freeworlds Union was one such state, having co-existed peacefully alongside the empire since its founding almost 500 years ago, and whilst ideologies clashed (particularly over the issues of equality amongst the sexes) were content to exist side by side in the same subsector. The rumour mill has been running at over time recently especially with an increase in tensions between the two states and the unprovoked Rebin Assault on the Kaar System that marked the start of the recent hostilities. One rumour in particular was that the Empress had been formulating long term plans to annex the Union and had this class of Carrier designed specifically for the job at hand. The design is characterised by a 4G reactionless thruster and extremely long reach of a 4 parsec rated jump drive, one of the most advanced pieces of equipment within local (and by definition - Known) space. Powerfully armed with a Meson Gun spinal mount, supported by 20 Particle Accelerator Bays and 20 Batteries of 10 Laser Turrets it can function admirably as a combatant in its own right, although tends to be used beyond the battle line as a command carrier and tactical co-ordination centre. This carrier is normally outfitted with 50 of the latest build Rebin X-11 Class 100 ton assault fighter, along with any combination of 500 tons of sub-craft, such as Infantry Landers, grav tanks, armoured personel carriers or light fighters, as dictated by the mission specification. Typical load outs include 300 highly equipped and skilled Marines in addition to 500 to 1000 personel in Low Berths serving as a 'Frozen Watch' (referred to as the Sleeping Guard in Rebin space as Rebin Low Berths are known to be non cryogenic in operation). Some of these low berths are kept empty ready to accept injured crewmembers or prisoners. In addition to being powerfully armoured this class is also supported by extensive armour that would easily shrug of typical turret mounted weaponry in addition to a Meson Screen and Nuclear Damper, technologies known to be unavailable to the lower tech Union Navy. Intelligence reports from outside of the Freeworlds Union confirm that the Rebin Empire has at least six of this class of Vessel including the 'Empresses Hand' that was the command ship for the assault on the Kaar System.
